Seeing how much things have changed or stayed the same is an interesting street to stroll down. There are many times when we remember an old building or street and wonder what it looks like today.
We've put together some examples of pictures that were taken in the same spot with many years in between! Take a trip back in time!
Lions Gate Bridge, Canada
On the left is a photo of the Lions Gate Bridge under construction in Vancouver, Canada, during the 1930s.
On the right is the same bridge in the present day which has long been completed.
Ford's Theater Alleyway, Washington, D.C.
This is a side-by-side picture of the alleyway behind Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C. This is where John Wilkes Booth escaped after shooting President Lincoln.
The photo on the right is from the late 1800s and the one on the left is from 2021.
El Castillo Pyramid, Mexico
This is a very telling before and after photo of the famous staircase in Mexico.
The picture on the top is before the restoration project was undertaken, and on the bottom is what it looks like today.
Mouth Of Wilson, Virginia
These black and white photos bring us back to the past.
The picture of the car on a barge is from 1952 and today there is a bridge and road allowing traffic to cross.
Watkins Glen State Park, New York
This user wanted to recreate an old family photo.
The picture on the top is one that his grandfather took in the 1960s. He then took a photo many years later doing the same pose that his grandfather did.
Seljestadjuvet, Norway
This picture shows us how far we've come as a society.
The top photo shows someone traveling by horse and buggy, while on the bottom there are cars driving on the same road some 117 years later.
Venice, Italy
Venice is a city that seems to be almost timeless.
The painting on the left is from 1870. The picture on the right is from the present day and it seems as though not much has changed.
Sydney, Australia
The skyline of Sydney, Australia, has come a very long way since the top photo was taken in 1932.
There were no skyscrapers, whereas the bottom photo shows that there are now so many.
Uptown Hotel, Chicago
The Uptown Hotel in Chicago is now only a shell of its former self.
The original hotel was demolished in the early 2000s and the current building pays tribute to the original.
Pont Neuf Bridge, Paris
The Pont Neuf is the oldest bridge in Paris, France.
This person is holding up an old photograph of a person painting the bridge in the exact location that it was taken many years before.
Kent, England
The top picture on Strood High Street in Kent, England, was taken in the 1880s.
The current day picture on the bottom shows that some of the original buildings still remain in the town.
Griffith Observatory, Los Angeles
The Griffith Observatory has been a staple of the Los Angeles skyline since the 1930s.
The top photo is from the 1930s while the bottom is from current day. The city behind it has developed quite a bit.
Hollywood Sign, Los Angeles
It wasn't always the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles, California.
The photo on the left from the 1930s shows the sign in its original form, "Hollywoodland." It was this way from 1923-1949.
Opelousas, Louisiana
This street in Opelousas, Louisiana, has come a long way since the above photo was taken pre-1950.
The types of stores have changed, but the buildings still remain fairly close to the original.
Ca' d'Zan, Sarasota
This stunning mansion in Florida was once owned by John Ringling of the Ringling brothers.
The mansion was modeled after Venice buildings. Today it remains in almost the same state as it was since its completion in the late 1920s.
Dunster Yarn Market, England
The top photo is of the Dunster Yarn Market in Somerset, England, in 1878.
Amazingly, the original structure and surrounding buildings are still there and remain almost exactly as they were more than 100 years ago!
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia was invaded by Japan during World War II, as pictured in the top picture.
The bottom picture shows the very same street in modern times.
Regent's Canal, England
Regent's Canal in London, England, is pictured in the photo on the left from 1905.
The steam barge on the left really takes us back in time. The tunnel is still there as pictured on the right.
Norman's Cay, Bahamas
The sunken plane is a Curtiss C-46 Commando.
This was one of the planes used by Pablo Escobar to smuggle drugs. It was abandoned and still remains in the Bahamas to this day.
Olympic Ship In Dock
The RMS Olympic ship is pictured docked in 1912 in the top photo.
The dock's most famous for being the dock that the Titanic was located in. The picture on the bottom is the dock today.
