This photo was taken the day before guitarist Hendrix died in London from a barbiturate-related asphyxia. In the days leading to his death, Hendrix is said to have been in bad health, due to fatigue, insomnia, and influenza.
Hendrix was later described by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as “arguably the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music.”
