The comedienne died of complications after a surgical procedure. This picture with a fan is from a show she did the night before her surgery.
In an eerie twist, Rivers joked about her death at that show. “I could go at any moment. I could lay here and go over… and it would be in the papers and you all could look at each other and say I was there the night Joan Rivers passed,” she teased.
In May 2016, Rivers’ daughter Melissa settled a medical-malpractice lawsuit against the medical facility where her mother died. The suit claimed that “doctors performed unauthorized medical procedures, snapped a selfie with the comedian, and failed to act as her vital signs deteriorated.”
