Fans were stunned when the popular host of The Crocodile Hunter was killed by a stingray jab. According to the only witness to the attack, photographer Justin Lyons, “All of a sudden it propped on its front and started stabbing wildly with its tail. Hundreds of strikes in a few seconds.”
“He just sort of calmly looked up at me and said, ‘I’m dying.’ And that was the last thing he said,” Lyons related.
Daughter Bindi Irwin won the television contest “Dancing with the Stars” (with partner Derek Hough) in 2015, and dedicated her performance to beloved dad Steve. “I wish he could fully understand how much he’s done for me,” she said on the show. “And that I miss him,” she added.
