Jimmy Savile, the English DJ, television and radio personality, was rumored to have molested scores of children during his career.
Savile was found dead at his home in Roundhay on 29 October 2011, just two days before his 85th birthday. He’d had pneumonia, so his death was not suspicious. An investigation was opened into the child molesting allegations after his death.
This photo was taken just days before he died.
In the aftermath of the scandal, Savile’s family requested that his gravestone be taken from the cemetery where his body was buried. Town officials removed the tombstone in the middle of the night, and sent it to a landfill.
