Christopher McCandless
Died at 24 (ca August, 1992)
McCandless, an American hiker and adventurer, headed for the Alaskan wilds after graduating from college in 1990. About four months later, his decomposing body (weighing only 66 pounds) was found in the back of a bus he’d been using as shelter. The official cause of death was listed as starvation.
This photo of McCandless was found undeveloped among his possessions. His life was later memorialized in the book and subsequent film “Into the Wild.”
