The ‘pishtaco’ is a 400-year-old Andean legend out of Peru. According to the legend, the pishtaco is a vampire that victimizes human for their bones and fat. Like most legends, the details of the story often change. But the general ‘rules’ of the legend remain the same. The pishtaco is well-dressed and handsome, typical of most vampire stories.

He stalks his victims on rural mountain paths before he dazzles or distracts them with his magical powers. One way he does this is by showing victims the back of his hand before letting his fingers fall off, his appendages writhing like worms on the ground. While the victims are shocked, he takes advantage and dismembers them.
